The Tibor T. Polgar Fellowship program is a student research program of the Hudson River Foundation (HRF) conducted in cooperation with the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation. Named in honor of Dr. Tibor T. Polgar, a major participant in the early planning and development of the Foundation, this program provides a summer grant ($5,000 for each fellowship) and research funds (up to $1,500) for up to eight students (undergraduate and graduate) to conduct research on the Hudson River. The objectives of the program are to gather important information on all aspects of the River and to train students in conducting scientific studies and public policy research, including projects addressing issues of diversity, equity, and inclusion. Students are invited to submit proposals by February 13.
Rutgers Youth Enjoy Science (RUYES) (Links to an external site.) with the Cancer Institute is a cancer research experiences, professional development, and community engagement opportunity for youth from under-represented groups and high school science teachers. Students in the program will engage in mentor-supervised basic, clinical, or population-based cancer research for ten weeks per summer for two consecutive years. Students will receive compensation to participate in the program. Apply by February 17
Scientist Mentoring and Diversity Program (Links to an external site.) is a one year program that pairs ethnically diverse students (Baccalaureate, Master or PhD) and early career researchers with industry mentors who work at companies in the medical technology, biotechnology and consumer healthcare industries. Participants of the program will attend a 5-day career training experience that pairs SMDP scholars with their mentors; receive one year of personalized career mentoring and guidance from an industry mentor; ongoing networking and career opportunities; a personalized profile on the mentoring portal.
