Peer Mentorship Program


We are happy to announce an opportunity for current LSAMP Scholars at Rutgers–New Brunswick to serve as peer mentors for the program.

LSAMP Student Ambassadors will serve as ambassadors/liaisons in addition to serving as a guide to new LSAMP students. LSAMP peer mentors will assist with program recruitment during various events including LSAMP information sessions, STEM student organizations, etc. LSAMP peer mentors will serve as primary resources to students at Rutgers–New Brunswick interested in learning more about the program.


·       Each ambassador is to conduct a minimum of one workshop for the academic year

·       Students to sign up on canvas 

·       Some workshops can be collaborative 

·       Proactive on social media (share posts on personal pages) 

·       Promote LSAMP in student clubs and organizations (minimum of one org) 

·       Promote LSAMP program in respective courses

·       Serve as a mentor and role model, both socially and academically

·       Attend and assist with workshops, events, and or programs as needed or assigned 

·       Meet on a monthly basis with LSAMP program staff 


·       Must be a current LSAMP scholar for at least one year 

·       Undergraduate research experience is not required (but is an advantage)

·       Rising Junior or Senior in strong Academic Standing (3.0 GPA or higher)

·       Strong interpersonal skills, a positive attitude, and someone who is self-motivated


·       Must be able to work some evenings (to attend STEM student organizations’ meetings to promote LSAMP) and weekends (to table to during main University events, i.e. Admitted Students Open Day, Rutgers Day, etc.)

·       Must be available to work a minimum of 10 hours per month 

·       Must attend an Ambassador Leadership Training at the beginning of the Fall semester (end of August)

Position Time Period

·       September 2021- May 2022


·       $1,000 total:  $500 for Fall semester and $500 for Spring Semester

·       Additional opportunities to network and meet faculty 


  • Must be a current LSAMP Scholar
  • Must be a rising junior or senior
  • Must be in good academic standing
