Bruno Gabriel Andrade Bitencourt
Bruno Gabriel Andrade Bitencourt was born and raised in São Paulo, Brazil and moved to the United States 6 years ago. He is in the School of Arts and Sciences majoring in Astrophysics. He became fascinate by astronomy when he first went to the planetary at the Air and Space Museum in Washington, D.C., and since then he aspires to be a researcher.
Amanda Bachan is in the School of Environmental and Biological Sciences majoring in Environmental Science. Amanda plans to conduct field work and study the earth environment with hopes to find ways to help make the environment healthy again. She loves traveling, camping, hiking, and spending quality time with family and friends.
Shannon Bertin is a sophomore majoring in biomedical engineering and minoring in psychology. Some of her interest include reading, writing, drawing, playing a variety of sports and binging shows on Netflix/Hulu as well as videos on YouTube. In the future Shannon hopes to attend graduate school to further her biomedical engineering knowledge and she plans on pursuing the tissue engineering route.
Edwin Brew was born in Bronx, NY, and spent most of his childhood in Ghana. He is in the School of Engineering majoring in Civil Engineering. He is interested in spending his undergraduate years taking part in internships and research projects. After his undergrad, he plans to further his studies by pursuing a master's degree in Civil Engineering. In his free time, he enjoys playing soccer, wrestling, and going to the gym.
Megan Bynoe is an Honors Academy Scholar studying Materials Science and Engineering. Through research in this department, she hopes to be able to pursue her interests in metallurgy and polymers. Following her bachelors degree at Rutgers, she hopes to obtain a Master’s Degree and work on sustainable materials.
Alicia Ciprian is in the School of Environmental and Biological Sciences majoring in Environmental Science. She is a SEBS EOF scholar. Her favorite subjects include math, science, and writing. Through LSAMP, she hopes to make professional connections that will help her in her career path.
Jhunie Clerveus was born in Port-au-Prince, Haiti, and moved to the United States at the age of nine. She is an EOF scholar in the School of Environmental and Biological Sciences majoring in Exercise Science. She is a first generation college student; she hopes after obtain her B.A. to continue her education to become the first doctorate in her family. Through LSAMP, Jhunie hopes to gain research and internship opportunities/experience that would allow her to improve both her academic and professional skills.
Alexus Crespo is in the school of Environmental and Biological Sciences, majoring in Ecology, Evolution and Natural Resources and working on an Environmental Geomatics Certificate. Alexus loves to go on hikes and explore different national and state parks. She would like to experience more research and field opportunities in her time at Rutgers. Alexus plans on going for a master’s program in Zoology with the help and guidance of the LSAMP Program to guide her.
Krishna Desai is a sophomore studying Computer Science at the School of Arts and Sciences. Through LSAMP, she hopes to research Big Data or any emerging technologies that provide a different perspective as to how humans navigate their lives. After completing her bachelor’s degree and furthering her academic career, she would like a career in data science where she is able to reach beyond what is presented at surface level.
Sophia Duenas is in the School of Environmental and Biological Sciences. Born in the Philippines, she moved to New Jersey to focus on her interests. She is majoring in Animal Science with the hopes of attending Veterinary School. She has worked on an independent-historical project that was recognized by the New Jersey Senate, and is a current member of the Pre-Vet club. With her interest in history and ecology, Sophia wishes to further push her passion onto a career that encompasses animals and its relationship to human society.
Stefan Dunn is in the School of Arts and Sciences majoring in Computer Science and minoring in French. Stefan looks forward to participating in research and internship opportunities, in addition, to giving back to the LSAMP community. Stefan hopes to become a computer programmer at Google.
Chisom Enekebe is a sophomore in the Ernest Mario School of Pharmacy. She is a part of the Douglass Residential College and plans on pursuing a career in medicinal chemistry.
Krish Govind was born in East Hanover, NJ and raised in Livingston NJ. He is a sophomore at Rutgers University New Brunswick, double majoring in Computer Science and ITI. Krish recently completed his summer internship with UnitedHealth Group and is very excited to be on campus, as his first year was completely virtual. Once he completes his undergraduate degrees, he aspires to be a Software Engineer or pursue a Masters in Information at Rutgers.
Shubon Husan is in the School of Engineering majoring in Chemical Engineering. He is an Education Opportunity Fund (EOF) scholar.
Sthefani Jimenez is in the School of Environmental and Biological Sciences majoring in Animal Science. She began her interest with animals when she helped save her uncle's dog. Her dream is to help save animal lives and hopes to become a veterinarian. She hopes to learn more through research in the LSAMP program. She is open to new ideas and hopes to expend her knowledge.
Noura Kakalendi is an SAS-EOF scholar, majoring in Computer Science in the School of Arts and Sciences. She is a first generation college student; obtaining her B.A. to become a web/app developer. Through LSAMP, Noura will gain research and internship opportunities/experiences that would allow her to excel both academically and professionally.
Ashni Kapadia is in the School of Arts and Sciences double majoring in Molecular Biology/Biochemistry and Philosophy with aspirations to go to medical school. Through LSAMP, Ashni hopes to gain research and internship opportunities that allow her to improve her academic and professional skills. Outside of school, she volunteers as an EMT and has a passion to incite positive change in the community.
Nicole Mallari is from Bergenfield, New Jersey. She is a sophomore Civil Engineer major with plans to minor in Landscape Architecture. Some of her hobbies include bullet journaling, listening to podcasts, working out, and stargazing. Nicole is looking forward to using her degree in hopes of finding more environmentally friendly and sustainable ways to build and rebuild the society around us.
Mildred Mullings is a second-year student majoring in Animal Science on the Pre-veterinary track. She became interested in helping animals after seeing the joy and fulfillment it brought her grandmother as an animal attendant at Cornell University College of Veterinary Medicine. Mildred is currently a fitness supervisor in the Rutgers Recreation department and a veterinary assistant at Woodbridge Veterinary Group. Her extracurriculars include the Pre-veterinary club, the Sisters with Values club, the Rutgers READ club, and the School of Environmental and Biological Sciences Governing Council as the Animal Science representative. She hopes to attend veterinary school, become a veterinarian and research the relationship between animals and humans, specifically the relationship between animals and people of the global majority.
David Nizama Chipana is a first generation student. He is a School of Environmental and Biological Sciences EOF scholar, majoring in Animal Science. David currently volunteers with Rutgers alumnus, Dr. Sanam Sean Manjar. He hopes to obtain a PhD and eventually hopes to become a veterinarian.
Sabarinath Ramachandran is majoring in Electrical Engineering. He is very interested in digital signal processing and wireless communications and hopes to do research in that field. He wants to get a graduate and doctorate degree. Out of academics, he plays a South Indian percussion instrument called the Mridangam and is fascinated by percussion instruments from all around the world.
Olivia Reste is a sophomore at the School of Environmental and Biological Sciences studying Biochemistry with a minor in Astrobiology. She is a transfer student from Middlesex College, where she obtained her associates degree in Biology. There, she also had the opportunity to become a NASA Community College Aerospace Scholar, where she will be working with NASA scientists and scholars from across the country on projects and will get the chance to work on-site at a NASA center. Olivia hopes that working with LSAMP will give her the chance to create a network to broaden her research opportunities both at Rutgers and beyond.
Sebastian Lezaros Romero
Sebastian Lezaros Romero is a School of Arts and Sciences EOF scholar majoring in Computer Science. His computer science trajectory focuses on the study and improvement of artificial intelligence simulations as well as the real-world applications in the fields of robotics and engineering. Beyond computer science, Sebastian's academic interests are in electrical engineering, chemical engineering, biochemistry, robotics and aerospace engineering. Through LSAMP, he hopes to build a community of friends who share the same passion and interest for research to help him improve and inspire collective work.
Erika Sagastume is a sophomore in the School of Arts and Sciences majoring in Environmental Science and Geography. She is a part of the Douglass Residential College and a Learning Assistant for Precalculus. Once she completes her four years of undergraduate school, Erika plans to pursue a PhD in Glaciology. Erika is interested in conducting research that tracks how glaciers change over time to hopefully bring awareness of the dangerous sea level rise climate change is causing on our planet.
Diomede (Dio) Tineo is an EOF scholar in the School of Environmental and Biological Sciences majoring in Biochemistry. He looks forward to participating in research opportunities that both LSAMP and Rutgers community have to offer. He hopes to conduct research that focuses on the improvement of technology that allows for better 3D diagram imaging of fetuses.
Jennifer Lim is a sophomore in the School of Arts and Sciences majoring in Psychology and minoring in Education as a Social Science. She enjoys spending quality time with her family and friends, going on trips, and playing the guitar. After graduating, she plans to attend graduate school to continue her studies in Psychology. In the future, she would like to pursue a career relating to both Psychology and Education.
Thi Tran is in the School of Environmental and Biological Sciences majoring in bio environmental engineering. She hopes to participate in the Rutgers 5-year masters program. After completion of her degrees at Rutgers, she hopes to work in industry to maximize production while minimizing externalities such as pollution. She hopes to become a global ambassador to help promote/create a more eco-friendly world.
